Project - replacement of Sulphuric Acid Concentrator Vessel
Nature of dispute / problem:
The concentration vessel was defective and had to be replaced with a new vessel. Because of its size and weight the vessel had to be lifted with a large telescopic crane above the building and lowered through the roof three floors to its installation site.
Work completed:
- Project management of vessel removal and replacement.
- Liason with sub-contractors.
- Hazard and risk assessment for 30m lift into three storey buliding.
- Working conditions on site were made more difficult because it was an explosives manufacturing plant.
- Prepared and executed project plan and job safety analysis.
- Vessel had a very delicate lining and the installation had to be carried out with precision and care.
- Project completed successfully on time.
