Car Transporter (LGV) traffic incident
Nature of dispute / problem:
Car transport failed to break properly at traffic light junction, mounted pavement and fatally injured a pedestrian.
Work completed:
- Conducted a thorough examination of the car transporter
- Assessed braking system, axles, suspension, wheels and tyres for defects.
- Reviewed maintenance and routine safety inspection procedures and records
- Witnessed VOSA inspection and rolling road brake testing
- Reviewed tachograph history of speed and braking prior to the incident
- Witnessed reconstruction trials of the emergency braking characteristics of the vehicle compared to a similar donor vehicle
- Work reported in written form for the Court.
- Attended meeting of experts
- Oral evidence given at two seperate Crown Court trials.
