Flatbed semi-trailer - load restraint system failure
Nature of dispute / problem:
The flatbed trailer was loaded with packs of timber and when secuing the load it was alleged that poor maintenance and repair of the load restraint system resulted in an incident which caused serious injury to the operator.
Work completed:
- Examined trailer and the load restraint reels and straps.
- Reconstruction of the incident, in particular the working of the ratchet device on the reels.
- Review of safe working method for securing packs of timber to the trailer.
- Work reported in written form for the Court
