Telescopic Handler automatic hitch - John Deere JD3220
Nature of dispute / problem:
Road traffic collision occured because the trailer being towed was accidentally released from the automatic hitch mechanism. The trailer rolled back down an incline and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Work completed:
- Examined the automatic hitch mechanism.
- Reviewed the police vehicle examiners accident report.
- Analysed the damaged spring and considered its likely effect on the safety of the automatic hitch release.
- Work reported in written form for the Court.
- Prepared for and gave oral evidence in Court.
